Our hindsight allows us to appreciate and see more fully the past, our childhood, etc. But the only way to go is forward, so we bring all that along with us.
Love the Eliot bit at the end. This was such a wonderfully thought provoking piece!
I was so disappointed with the moment in Inside Out 2 when they brought Nostalgia in for TWO SECONDS then sent her out again. Obviously they couldn't have a bajillion characters—but gosh it was brilliant.
This is such a thoughtful and well-wrought take on the nostalgia boom. Really appreciate how lucidly you treat the mirage of nostalgia. Still, I wonder if there's something recursive happening, where the nostalgic vision creates this higher water mark for living that, even though it never really existed, becomes a new lodestar. Stories have power, right?
Loved the thoughtfulness and insights here, and dig the collaborative model! more of this please.

"Bringing it along" is a great metaphor. Glad you enjoyed this one!
“Old man take a look at my life, I’m a lot like you” - Neil Young in Old Man, a song that’s had a resurgence on TikTok
Love some Neil Young 🤘🏼
Love it.

Could not have said it better myself.
